About the WYD
Frequently Asked Questions about the Accommodation and Food
Where will I be staying
There are three options for our main package:
- - a campsite
- - a school/hall floor organised by the WYD organisers
- - staying in a private house - organised by the WYD organisers
The campsite is about 16 miles from the centre of Krakow and the World Youth Day Accommodation is likely to be closer to the centre. We'd like to be able to accommodate everyone that wants to camp in the campsite but we have to give priority to under 18s - for more information see the FAQ - under 18s page.
Do we need our own tents
No, tents will be provided and set up before you arrive
Do we need our own sleeping bags?
Yes, you will need a sleeping bag and anything else you want to sleep on - please remember there is limited space so if you are thinking of packing an inflatable 4 poster bed you may be disappointed!
Can we get in and out of Krakow on our own?
We will provide coaches to and from the outskirts of Krakow each day for everyone. However, if you wanted to get in and out of Krakow earlier or later than the coaches we are running then there is a bus stop 20 minutes walk away or you could get a cab which costs about £25 to get to the centre of Krakow.
Where will I be staying
Whether you choose to stay on a hall floor or with a family, with any of the WYD accommodation you won't know where you are staying until you arrive. It does seem a bit daunting on the day - but we would try and have someone there the day before you arrive to pick up your tickets and find out where your accommodation is so it is all sorted when you get there.
What will the WYD Hall/School floor accommodation be like?
ROUGH! It will just be a school/hall floor - you will need to bring your own sleeping bag and whatever you want to sleep on. Having said this - all of the organising team have gone for this option at past World Youth Days and we've all survived!
What will the WYD private house accommodation be like
We can't be certain what it will be like, you may be sleeping on a floor or you maybe sleeping in a bed - it depends entirely on the family you are staying with.
What will the food be like
Breakfast is served where you are staying and will depend on the place where you stay. Although arrangements for lunch and dinner have not been finalised yet, at recent World Youth Days participants have been given a book of vouchers which allows you to get meals from a choice of restaurants in the city - so you should find something you like!
